Preface
Let's take a quick journey back to March, when the absence of major-market sports caused degens everywhere to turn to betting Korean Baseball, Madden Sims, and even weather markets to get their gambling fix. Among these, Russian Table Tennis emerged from the depths of the motherland, becoming popular on books of all sizes.
Nobody knows much about these games. Are Russia Liga Pro games fixed? Probably. Personally, I theorize that the games aren't necessarily fixed, but that each night, the Russian Mafia feeds winning players while the others watch. Why else would they be motivated to try? The league has no playoffs and no apparent prizes for top performers.
The games feature players from apparent grandpas with white hairs and knee braces to young boys who hardly look old enough to drive. They are played in a small room with tarped walls, with only the scorekeeper and players in view. The league is practically made to be bet on, and with over 100 twenty minute games a day, there's plenty of opportunities for aspiring degenerates to get the rush of gambling without sitting through 90-minute soccer matches and three hour-long tennis matches.
Now, why should you take advice from me? I've maintained about a 78% record on my Russian TT picks, and have doubled my bankroll multiple times over. I've been banned from a few books for "sharp action," and had my table tennis limited on others. Feel free to PM me to get access to the discord where I post all my picks for free ;) But enough of that, let's talk about my betting strategy.
Step 1: Narrow Down the Slate
Before you even sign in to your book, I recommend narrowing down the upcoming games within the next ~3 hours on Flashscore. Don't worry about the odds at this point, simply pick the games that stand out to you. Go down the list, and click on each game to view the stats for the matchup. When you see a game you like, simply click the checkbox next to it and it will be added to the "My Games" section for easier access. When looking for games to bet on, I look for two main criteria. In order of importance:

Head to Head Results - This is my most important criteria when selecting games to bet on. In most cases, I only take games where one opponent is clearly dominating the H2H category. I look for games where one player has won AT LEAST 4 of the last 5 games head to head, and preferably at least 8 of the last 10 games head to head. As a rule of thumb, if the recent H2H look solid but the longer-term head to head is split between the players, avoid betting that game. If there are less than five previous meetings between the players, I recommend avoiding the game. Remember, we want to bet high-probability games to beat the house edge. If you are unsure about a matchup, avoid it. There are plenty of other games to bet on, so don't force it. Here is an example of a game with a great H2H record. Molodstov has won all five of the recent meetings, and nine of the previous ten. Here is an example of a game with a bad H2H record. While Poletaev has an advantage having won six of the previous ten meetings, Nikiforov has won three of the most recent five. Avoid betting on games like these!
Overall Form - Once you've checked off the head to head category, check out the players' recent non-H2H games. Look at their most recent ten matches rather than just the previous 5. If their form is mostly similar, such as this example where both have a similar number of wins in their previous ten, then the bet meets the criteria. Another possibility is that the player that has dominated in H2H is in significantly worse form than their opponent, such as here. In this situation, avoid betting the game. The best-case scenario is when the player who has dominated H2H is in significantly better form than their opponent, who may have a losing record over the previous ten or be on a losing streak. In this example, Kutuzov has dominated head to head, and is in significantly better form than Migalov, who is on a 10 game losing streak. We would take action on Kutuzov here. As a rule of thumb, never bet on a player on a 5+ game losing streak to win, and vise versa.

Go through the slate and look for games that meet these two criteria. Don't worry about the odds at this step, simply short-list the games you'd like to bet!
Step 2: Making the Bets
Once you have your shortlist, it's time to place your bets. One important thing to keep in mind is that it's perfectly fine to take a juiced line to get a bet you're perfectly confident in. Often times, I play lines that are as low as -270 to get a moneyline bet that I like. When we're betting heavy favorites, your win percentage should be at least 70% to stay consistently profitable. I typically bet 2 units on most straight plays, though you can play around with your unit size to see what works best for you. Consistency is key!
Often times, you will find that the lines on the games you've picked simply have too low odds. In this case, don't give up on it yet! There are a few strategies you can use to still take action on these games while not having to risk a significant amount. Keep in mind, not all books will offer these options. Bovada is one of the worst books to use for table tennis! Bet365 is my favorite, as they have the most options for action beyond only moneyline bets.

Parlay Favorites - You can parlay two of your selections together to get it down to very good odds, and often times even plus-value odds! Some books will only allow you to parlay games from the same league (Liga Pro), others will only let you parlay from separate leagues (ex. 1 game from Setka Cup, 1 game from Liga Pro). If your book lets you parlay Table Tennis, you have a great tool at your disposal, use it! If you usually bet 2U on your straight bets, I recommend betting only 1.5 on parlays, as you are spreading the risk over two games instead of one, even if they are heavy favorites.
Play -1.5 Sets - Be careful with this one! Most books will let you play -1.5 sets at odds between -105 and -145. Make sure you look at the H2H scores before placing a bet on this prop. If the player you're betting on usually wins 3-2, avoid this bet. If he is winning 3-1 and 3-0 the majority of the time, then this bet makes sense. Use your judgment here! For this bet to hit, you need your player to win with a score of either 3-1 or 3-0.
Play the Under - Most books will give you an oveunder on total points. If you're really confident on your player to dominate, you can take the under (total will typically be between 72.5 and 76.5). This is usually the riskiest of the options, as even a set score of 3-1 can hit the over if the game is close. I typically do not recommend playing the under, unless it is a particularly high number (74.5 or above) and the player typically wins 3-0 in head to head.

Step 3: Enjoy the Games, Reverse Jinxes are Key!
Unless your book offers you a live stream, it's often hard to find a good stream to watch Liga Pro games. If you're hell-bent on watching the game, I recommend using sportplus(dot)live, though they are inconsistent with their TT streams working. I usually keep track of the live scores on FlashScore. Now, when you're watching these games, NEVER, not even for a second, get confident that your bet is going to win. This is how you get screwed. I cannot stress enough how many times I've seen -300 or lower favorites go up 2-0, only to blow a 9-5 or such lead in the third set and get reverse swept. If you want to win your bets, you must be consistently reverse-jinxing Vladimir or Pavel or whoever you've bet on. He's up 10-5? Screw him. He's going to choke. He gives up a point? Screw him and everything he stands for. This mindset will work you wonders, trust me. No positivity until your bet wins. The moment you become confident, they fuck up - it happens every time!

3 AM in Montreal, Quebec. Felt nice reading these posts knowing I am not alone. 10 years ago when I turned 18 (legal age here to gamble) my friends brought me to the casino in Montreal just for fun. Nope, 2 days later all gone and another 15k on cc maxed out on top. Went through depression for the 10000th time. I am so fked financially about 40k deep and supposed to get married in June, told myself IF ONLY I can make it back. Anyway I self excluded from all these online sh1t sites and hoping to work hard and pay off this mess and live peacefully with my partner who deserves much more. What is Golden Matrix?
Golden Matrix Group GMGI is a very unique part of the online gambling industry that doesn't get much recognition compared to the actual sports betting companies and casinos, such as Draftkings DKNG or BetMGM. Draftkings for an example is a front-end operator Business to Consumer (B2C), they are what the consumer sees on the app. Where on the other hand, GMGI is the back-end white labeled software platform, Business to Business (B2B). GMGI has everything provided to convert a land based brick and mortar casino to an online casino, including everything from data analytics, games, game management, payment gateways, currencies, languages, 24/7 tech support and more. So what I'm trying to say is Golden Matrix has everything required to setup an online casino or sports betting application. With what's going on in the world today, an online presence is a must. So this is how GMGI and GAN type companies differ from the rest of the online gaming world, as their work is mainly behind the curtains, but are needed in order to run an online casino or sport betting platform.
Seeing Golden Matrix is not a front-end B2C retail casino, they do not have to pay hundreds of thousands or even millions to advertise. As a matter of fact they don't have to pay anything, which in turn keeps the operating expenses nice and low. They make their money by setting up operators at no cost and make their money licensing the front-end casinos, usage, and providing services. It's much more low key, and they don't have to be the bank like all the front end companies such as Draftkings, BetMGM, Bet365, etc...
Continuous Revenue Growth
Here's a brief summary on Golden Matrix's more recent growth. Just since last January (2020) they have grown their operators (Casinos) from 150 to 457 of them today, a 205% Increase, and Registered End Users from 1.5M to 3.9M today, a 160% Increase in the same time frame. Those numbers to me show solid company growth, and the quarterly financials reflected from this growth as Q1 Revenues were $882K, Q2 $1.04M, Q3 $1.49M, and Q4 is expected to exceed $1.7M as quoted by Golden Matrix. Those quarterlies show me that they have grown their revenues by nearly double in the year 2020. I'm expecting these revenues for last year will total approximately $5.1M+ and can do another easy double in 2021 if not more $10.2M+ On top of all this solid core growth GMGI has also been able to maintain profitability for the past nine consecutive quarters, while growing out their top end numbers. The gross profit last quarter (Q3) was 58% and the net income was only roughly $40K. In my opinion this is a good thing considering the competition GAN who trades in the Nasdaq, lost $4.1M during that same third quarter. Profit is profit, which is an complete rarity in this sector. I'm looking forward to seeing the Q4 numbers on or before the March 15th 2021 deadline.
Nasdaq Capital Markets
Golden Matrix filed an application to uplist onto the Nasdaq Capital Markets on August 27th 2020, and are still currently pending approval as it seems to be a very complicated and tedious task jumping all the way from OTC Pink Sheets to Nasdaq. Us GMGI long shareholders have seen many tasks from the company performed over the past 5+ months that come out in 8K filings, such as amending financial reports to Nasdaq formatting, and even creating a audit committee to meet qualifications just as of last week (01-26-21). As for now Golden Matrix is still a hidden gem as much of Wall Street doesn't know about GMGI or can't trade GMGI due to many buying restrictions. I think soon this will change and no longer be hidden with the arrival of up list.
Playtech and Golden Matrix Deals
Playtech and Golden Matrix went began a collaboration agreement around the end of November 2020 that is set to kickoff sometime this month (February). You can find this easily under recent GMGI news right on the company website. What the deal consists of is beneficial to both of them, as Golden Matrix newly designed and built a Esports betting app, Peer2P Betting Games, and a new Artificial Intelligence System (AI-X). Golden Matrix is letting Playtech PTEC.L use and distribute these applications and software exclusively to all of their new and future customers. Playtech is a market leader when it comes to gaming software and technology. Playtech granted non exclusive rights to distribute their most popular games including live dealer games, slots, table games, bingo, and poker to Golden Matrix's 450+ current operators throughout their APAC Region territories. This deal will be very beneficial for Golden Matrix as their foot print will reach the U.S. and European territories through Playtech, who is all over the world, and some states in the U.S. including very popular New Jersey. I expect we may see a significant increase in the top and bottom line growth for Golden Matrix through this significant collaboration deal.
Amelco Sports Betting Distribution Deal
One more recent larger deal was made with Amelco who's out of England U.K. and basically it gives Golden Matrix distribution rights of their premium sports betting software platform where they will offer it throughout their territories in the APAC Region to their 450+ Operators and future ones as well. I think this is a major deal because they will now become a stronger company by providing both Igaming and Sports Betting software vs just having igaming alone. I think this will not only attract more usage from the current 457+ operators and 3.9M end users, but will also have more future operators wanting to do new business with Golden Matrix being a dual distributor of both Igaming and Sports Betting. More customers equals more revenues, which is what we all want to see from any good growing company.
GMGI Obtained a European Gaming License
Golden Matrix recently acquired a Alderney Gaming License in which their CEO Brian Goodman sold to the company though another privately owned company that was holding this license. He sold this license at cost to Golden Matrix. From my understanding there's many benefits to owning this license, and it's not easy to obtain. Playtech their newly partner also holds this same gaming license, along with many other big name casinos. It seems as if GMGI will be expanding from just the APAC Region alone, and now into the European Region as well. Us shareholders didn't receive a lot info on the exact game plan, but it sounds like some expansion into the European Region. I'm looking forward to hearing more about their game plan hopefully in the near future. Europe is the largest gambling market in the whole world, and right under it is the Asia Pacific Region. Let's see what this European Alderney Gaming License has in store for us in the near future.
$5 Million Equity Investment
Just last week Golden Matrix announced they received a $5M equity investment from a strategic Swedish based gaming investor Knutsson Holdings AB. They purchased one million units which consists of 1M restricted shares at $5.00 USD each, and a warrant with a exercise price of $6.00 a share. They only can exercise the warrants once the GMGI share price exceeds $10 a share for a minimum of 10 consecutive trading days. This was all announced when we were trading around $5.50 a share and will only only dilute the outstanding share count from 21.7M shares to 22.7M shares (4.4%) which is minor. This deal brought me that much more confidence in GMGI, because not only did this investment firm valuate the company currently over $5 a share, but they know its worth more as they have been around the block dealing with gaming companies since 1963 (50+ years). They are also the largest shareholder of popular company NETENT who was recently acquired by Evolution Gaming, and are invested in many other gaming companies. Check them out. This deal puts GMGI outstanding shares to 22.7M with a super low share float that's under 12M shares and a low market cap around $116M USD while currently trading in the low $5 a share price range. Ask yourself this one question, if Knutsson Holdings doesn't even get to purchase their other 1M shares for $6M until the price exceeds $10 a share, don't you think they have good confidence GMGI will surpass this price in the near future? I very well believe so, as they have solid growth, and many new business deals into play for this Quarter (Q1) and beyond.
Possible Acquisitions On The Horizon
I personally have very high expectations for Golden Matrix this year including a up list approval onto the Nasdaq Capital Markets Exchange, major new revenue growth from the partnerships mentioned earlier, and of course building their core business stronger then ever. Also if you checkout all the last dozen press releases from the company, the CEO has mentioned several soon to be announced partnerships and possible synergistic acquisitions many times. Now with Golden Matrix sitting on a pile of cash on hand ($10M+) and staying profitable for the past nine consecutive quarters and counting, they could be in a great position to acquire something beneficial for the companies overall top and bottom line growth. I'm keeping my eyes peeled open short term to see what they do on their next move with $10M+ cash, no debt, and being cashflow positive, which is a rarity in this sector as most are bleeding millions of dollars in losses quarter after quarter! I believe with the current $116M Market Cap, 22.7M Outstanding shares, Low <12M share float and the anticipated future growth, this share price around $5.00 is undervalued and a true bargain BUY.
My Position
I hold a long position of GMGI here, and plan to continue holding for the next 3-5 years as the online gambling industry is expected to grow exponentially for quite some time with more and more legalization throughout the U.S. and many other locations. Online gambling will only continue to grow larger and larger yearly. Do some DD on GMGI and you may become a long shareholder like myself.

My step dad passed away in May 2018 before he passed away he said to me look after your Mum Jo, don't let her sell the house, she has enough money in the bank to enable her to cut down her hours at work and she can take it easy, if she sells she will have to pay out money that she doesn't need to as they were mortgage free.
Now my Mum is a stunning looking woman, very glam and I just knew the vultures would descend and 1 vulture in particular is an absolute scumbag.
Now let me give you a picture because for a while I thought am I the arsehole here but to have the validation that other family members also picked up on the red flags was enough for me to realise I wasn't being unreasonable.
Let me make this perfectly clear I want my Mum to be happy, but I know my Mum better then anyone and know she lacks a massive amount of confidence because she isn't very educated, she has alot of common sense (some of the time) but because she never did well at school this has made her lack confidence so she has always relied on me or my step dad to help guide her, but its this lack of confidence that makes her very easily manipulated.
My Mum works as a cleaner and the company she works for one of the warehouse workers took an interest, at first she rebuffed him and I said to her Mum you are still grieving for Dad its not the right time to go rushing in just yet give yourself some time because you can put a band aid on grief in the hope it will just disappear you have to see it through.
I was also trying to get her to a point of self sufficiency so she could start having some confidence about doing things for herself.
However to my disappointment she pursued this arsehole and on their first date I found out he spiked her drink.
He didn't spike it with pills, basically she ordered a Brandy and coke and he had a shot of vodka put into it.
This prick thought it was hilarious and he told me it was to loosen my Mum up.
Is he for fucking real? I mean if you are already drinking Brandy for god sake what possible reason do you need to put a poxy Vodka into it.
Anyway Mum was hanging onto his every word and laughing with him and I have my head in my hands thinking men can actually get arrested for this shit.
Following on from that were numerous other red flags ranging from

Accusing my mum of chatting to men on Facebook and he chucked her out of his mums home.
Calls her an excessive amount of times during the day my uncle and me counted he called her 9 times in one day.
We can never have a 1:1 conversation with her, he needs to be included and put on speakerphone
Found out she loaned his daughter £500
He encouraged my mum to part exchange her brand new fiesta for an Audi on finance when she didn't need to do that meaning she now has a huge £347 a month bill coming out.
Very forceful with my Mums dog, found out he even smacked him on the nose... makes my blood boil my mums dog is the most chilled out dog you could ever meet and he is tiny.
I believe because he was so forceful with my mums dog the dog developed a skin condition through stress and he was refusing to take the dog to the vet because his daughter said it would clear up... I want to scream right now.
Claims he pays my mum £1000 towards bills which is a lie found out he was paying her alot less
Because he transfers money for bills, everytime they do something like go for a meal he says to my Mum pay for it on the halifax card jan meaning the money he is supposed to contribute towards bills isnt actually paying the bills.
Excessive betting every day, my uncle spotted that he went out with £100 and came back with nothing.

Now I have tried speaking to her god knows Ive tried but she gets on the defensive and attacks me.
Thankfully though I think a few things started to come to light and she started calling me on the quiet and complaining about things she had noticed.
Last Sunday however my mother rang me up in a state because she found out this wanker stole almost £2k from her bank account on Gambling.
The devious arsehole convinced her to let him download the bet365 app to her phone register her bank card while he deposited £200 into her account.
He then went on to not only spend his money but also clean out my mums account leaving her with £7.50
As you can imagine I was raging not only at her stupidity but at him for the level of manipulation.
My mum was determined it was over and was packing his bag, I’m selling up as soon as my house is decorated in order to be closer to her and it killed me that I didn’t live closer I can’t begin to tell you the anxiety I felt not being there. I told her to stay strong, I found the betting app and the log in and deactivated the account and told her first thing on Monday go to the bank and get the account changed.
During this time the boyfriend aka Scumbag was at work, I said to her you don’t even let him in just leave his packed case outside. Sadly it didn’t pan out that way and to my complete shock later that evening when he returned to my mums home the boyfriend managed to sweet talk my mum and he never left.
To add insult to injury she went Facebook official with their relationship the following day while I was here stressed to the max worrying sick about her.
I also found out shes now blocked me from Facebook too.
My family are all shaking their heads because we dont understand any of this, she has rejected her friends and family for this man and the only possible reason they want her in the family fold is because what she has, shes mortgage free has money in the bank.
This fuckwit she is with is 57 years old and has nothing to his name, he was living with his mother for god sake and all his money goes to the bookies.
Shes clearly getting something from them that she isnt getting from us or is it just how grief has manifested in my mums case.
I dont understand why we are the enemy when all we have ever tried to do is support her.
I am completely heartbroken.

I had a telegram group where i share 'fixed matches'. There were around 25 people in it, some of them made profits, some of them couldn't. But so many of them gave me tons of headache. They were showing me some coupons they've made, they were complaining about my loses, sharing any other opinions etc.
First let me tell you what i do. First, i copy all of day's matches pre-start odds on excel. And then i compare each one of them among the all popular betting websites and Turkish national betting website. I'm 32 years old and i've never watched a football game from start till the end. I don't like football, i don't like to talk about football, i don't like the people who has strong passion about football. I believe %80 of the matches are fixed. Betting industiry became so big in the last years, big guys doesn't want to leave this industiry to 22 players hands. Otherwise wouldn't be so easy? Put Liverpool, Barca and Bayern on the same coupon, bet 1k usd and double up. I'm %100 sure, professionals like me thinks the same way.
I believe betting according to odds instead of the teams, team's position in its league, injured players etc is way way more profitable. Just think about the last Liverpool - West Bromwich match. What did Liverpool lose? They are still 3 points ahead. But just think how much did they get by setting up that match. Also search Liverpool's historty for how many other set-up matches like this. And one another thing, they are trying to keep first 1-2-3-4-5th team's points close to heat up competition. More competition means more bets, more money for bookies etc.
Anyway, i want to keep it short but there are tons of topics to discuss. What i'm saying is, im not a regular better. I always bet according to odds, trying to find these kind of set-up matches and i have straight rules to keep me tight.
So what happened to the group? Why did it fail?
There are 2 things u MUST control in betting. 1- Bankroll management, 2- Your greed. If you lose any of them, you will fail. I'm just a stranger for my clients in that group, trying to share so-called 'fixed matches' I share 4+ odd, they bet big and it fails. Then i share +4 odd, they bet big (this time with frustiation) and it fails again. Then i share one more +4 odd but this time they think that im a scammer and they don't bet it or bet less. This one hits this time, but they couldn't make any profit. And after they complaining, i'm afraid to share +7 odds when i see any. If that +7 hits, i can't explain how much i got tilted.
So, i don't want to deal with 25+ people. My aim is to get 5 people till the next friday. What these 5 people must do is:
1- Cash-in exactly 100 euros on their betfair or bet365 accounts.
2- They must bet exactly the amount that i told.

There are only illegal betting websites in Turkey, But i got scammed 43k Liras (around 4.7k euros) total last year. So i need a %100 SAFE platform like betfair and bet365. And this 5 people is gonna provide it to me.
So why are they putting the first 100 euros by themselves? You put it?

I had a telegram group where i share 'fixed matches'. There were around 25 people in it, some of them made profits, some of them couldn't. But so many of them gave me tons of headache. They were showing me some coupons they've made, they were complaining about my loses, sharing any other opinions etc.
First let me tell you what i do. First, i copy all of day's matches pre-start odds on excel. And then i compare each one of them among the all popular betting websites and Turkish national betting website. I'm 32 years old and i've never watched a football game from start till the end. I don't like football, i don't like talk about football, i don't like the people who has strong passion about football. I believe %80 of the matches are fixed. Betting industiry became so big in the last years, big guys doesn't want to leave this industiry to 22 players hands. Otherwise wouldn't be so easy? Put Liverpool, Barca and Bayern on the same coupon, bet 1k usd and double up. I'm %100 sure, professionals like me thinks the same way.
I believe betting according to odds instead of the teams, team's position in its league, injured players etc is way way more profitable. Just think about the last Liverpool - West Bromwich match. What did Liverpool lose? They are still 3 points ahead. But just think how much did they get by setting up that match. Also search Liverpool's historty for how many other set-up matches like this. And one another thing, they are trying to keep first 1-2-3-4-5th team's points close to heat up competition. More competition means more bets, more money for bookies etc.
Anyway, i want to keep it short but there are tons of topics to discuss. What i'm saying is, im not a regular better. I always bet according to odds, trying to find these kind of set-up matches and i have straight rules to keep me in tight.
So what happened to the group? Why did it fail?
There are 2 things u MUST control in betting. 1- Bankroll management, 2- Your greed. If you lose any of them, you will fail. To all who know me, you know I’m an ardent remainer. I’ve enjoyed the benefits of being a part of Europe as I’ve experienced some of my best years of my life living in Spain. I do though respect the will of the people so I’m now fully behind our withdrawal from Europe.
Being back in England though it’s actually soul destroying to see how my home city is literally dying. The city centre (Derby) to me is unrecognisable, literally turning into a ghost town as are all city centres throughout the UK. Of course the outbreak of the virus has amplified the demise, but to me it’s blatantly clear there is a real enemy which is really raping the country and it certainly is not anything to do with Europe. Over the last few years we have all seen the rapid rise of a new global market which is of course the internet. Any country that does not get a foothold in the internet is doomed!
Britain is renowned for innovation and has given the world much in regards to new tech including the invention of computers and the first design of the internet. Sadly though, every single one of us is helping the demise of Britain.
If you look at the top 40 internet companies, then you’ll sadly find that there is only one British company listed which is Bet365 ranked around 36th. A very sad demise indeed for such a proud and inventive country.
Every minute of every day we are all responsible for the demise of Britain as we are lining the pockets of American companies who are literally raping UK business. Let me explain why.
If you own a hotel or B&B then you simply can’t survive without be listed on Booking.com and similar sites. Such sites take up to a staggering 30% of the actual booking which is funnelled back to the good old USA with little return in the form of taxes.
The same is true with the likes of UBER who are taking a cut of every taxi fare. Ebay who are taking a cut of every sale from their site and another cut when you pay with PayPal. Netflix are funnelling millions back to the USA again with limited tax paid. Expedia with every holiday booked. Spotify funnelling millions back to the US each month with UK subscriptions. Amazon with not only their own products but their global marketplace which takes a cut of every item sold from British company selling through their market place. Sadly the list of American companies which we all gladly line their pockets goes on and on!
And it’s also a fact for any business to survive that they need to advertise online with the like of Google and Facebook who are in effect sticking two fingers up to us all with the petty taxes they pay. Not to mention how they track us and profile us. Just remember Google and Facebook know where you go, they know where you eat and where you shop. They harvest your clicks and likes which they freely sell to advertisers.
It is a fact that Covid 19 is the biggest gift the American internet companies could have ever dreamt of!
As an analogy imagine all the funds from the UK as water sitting in a big bucket. Then imagine every American internet company that is trading in the UK as a hole in the bucket with the funds flowing back to America. The British bucket is draining rapidly and more so every day. We simply can’t go on topping the bucket up by printing money and sadly there is little coming back in the form of taxes!
10 years ago British gambling sites, the likes of Ladbrokes, William Hill, Party Poker etc became a global success. The American government saw funds flowing out of their country so acted swiftly banning UK companies and fined them heavily instantly stopping the flow. Now we have the reverse but we literally let them bleed us dry. It’s no surprise to me that the US government is forcibly taking control of tiktok because America thinks it owns the internet!
Getting back to Brexit, as I’ve said I now accept it but to me there is no plan! Surely is we had leaders with any brain cells they would be working hard to build our very own internet businesses but the truth is there is fuck all on the horizon!
With the final throws of Brexit now kicking in we need to reinvent our country. We need to piss off all the American companies that are bleeding our country dry. We need British equivalents of the likes of Amazon, Ebay, Booking.com, Ebay etc. etc. We have the tech and expertise to do exactly that. All we need is strong leaders who really do understand what is really happening and focus on making Britain a major part of the global internet market.

Why watch

Here comes the marketing spiel. If you follow K League, you'll get throw-ins like THIS, headers like THIS, and epic knee-slides like THIS. Are you not entertained?
The best practical reason for following it is that you can get live football at a time of day when there's not much other football on - afternoons in East Asia, mornings in UK and Europe, and evenings or nights in the Americas. It's also a summer league, so you'll never have to go without club football from ~June-August again.
The highly scientific and not-at-all-questionable IFFHS rankings also has K League as the best league in Asia by quite some bit, and the 20th best league in the world. If the 20th best league sounds like something you might be interested in, carry on reading. If not, also carry on reading.

2020 season recap

I started writing a separate 2020 season recap, but I didn't get past a gif of Jesse Pinkman shouting "He can't keep getting away with it!", where in this case "he" is Jeonbuk and "it" is winning the league. However, I've now some time to compose myself, so here goes my mini summary.

The reason I wanted to scream like Jesse is that Jeonbuk just weren't that good - they regularly dropped points to teams in the lower half of the table, scraped wins, and played most of the season without a competent striker. This feeling that Jeonbuk were a bit pants was verified when Jeonbuk were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage for the first time in ages. So why couldn't anyone take advantage of that?
The answer lies in Ulsan. Ulsan lost out on the 2019 league title on the tiebreaker of a single goal scored, and there was real determination to get it done in 2020. In 2020 Ulsan were great. They spent the majority of the season at the top of the table, were crowned champions of Asia in an unbeaten run, and only lost to two teams all year. Unfortunately, one of those teams was Jeonbuk, and they lost to them three times in the league. If Ulsan could have just drawn ONCE, they would have won their first league title since 2005. But they didn't. They came runner-up, trailing Jeonbuk by 3 points. To rub salt into the wound, they also lost to Jeonbuk in the FA Cup final the week after the league finished.
As for everyone else, in order of finishing:

Pohang were good but not good enough. They did score the most goals out of everyone though.
Sangju Sangmu got their highest finish ever, and could have got Champions League football for 2021 if it weren't for them technically disbanding at the end of 2020 and reforming anew as Gimcheon Sangmu.
Daegu sneaked into a Champions League spot, in what will be their second appearance following their 2019 debut.
Gwangju exceeded all expectations
Gangwon didn't meet expectations, but they did the double over Jeonbuk which makes them absolute heroes in my book.
Suwon Bluewings were terrible until they sacked their moron of a manager, and when the replacement was finally hired they looked quite good.
FC Seoul went through one manager and two or three caretakers and looked rubbish under all of them.
Seongnam almost threw it away in the final run of games but held on and deservedly stayed up for another year.
Incheon were considered relegated by most halfway through the season - because they hadn't even won a single game by then - so the fact that they weren't come the end of the season is a miracle.
Busan were kind of meh all season, and when relegation looked possible their manager simply gave up and resigned instead of sticking around to fight it out. They got relegated.

From K League 2 Jeju bounce back after just one year, possibly thanks to promotion specialist Nam Ki-il, and Suwon FC won promotion with literally the last kick of the season to ensure we'll see a Suwon Derby again in 2021.
Also since it was the "big thing" in 2020, I'll give a small mention to coronavirus. Due to an abundance of caution, crowds were absent for most of the season, but not a single positive case among K League 1 clubs occured, which is just incredible.

The off-season

AFC Champions League

After the domestic season was finished, there was the small matter of almost an entire Champions League campaign to play in Qatar. There were 4 teams representing K League.
FC Seoul arrived at the competition with yet another caretaker manager, this time it was a scout from their backroom staff because they couldn't find anyone else with the correct coaching license that the AFC requires. They continued their domestic form and went home early, finishing 3rd in their group.
Jeonbuk also finished 3rd in their group. In their defence they did have a lot of their usual starting XI missing, but the Jeonbuk of yesteryear would have still managed. They just weren't very good in 2020.
Suwon Bluewings were perhaps the darkest horse at the tournament, and despite turning up with an all-Korean squad and without their captain, showed a will to scrap for every single ball and a self-confidence that was quite terrifying. They played in what was my personal favourite game of the tournament, a win over the then-reigning J.League champions Yokohama FM which included a lob from the halfway line. Unfortunately they had to play the majority of their next game with 10 men. They still pushed it to penalties, but didn't get lucky. If you count a loss on penalties as a draw, they still left Qatar unbeaten.
Ulsan... well they won it. Well done them. Their manager headed into the competition knowing he wouldn't have a job afterwards regardless of outcome, but they still bossed it. They lifted the trophy undefeated for only the second time in the competition's history. The first team that did it was themselves, in 2012.

Club World Cup

During Ulsan's rebuild, they had to jet off to Qatar again to fight for the title of champions of the universe. Literally half of the players who played in the Champions League final in December did not make the return trip to Qatar, either due to injury or having left the club, and the manager and 5 players were making their debut for the club. Expectations were not high, and they met those expectations by losing to Tigres and Al-Duhail. However, the trip wasn't totally pointless, as they managed to score this ^offside [goal that some said was Puskas-worthy]().

Transfers

The transfer window followed the familiar pattern of the previous season's best talent leaving for richer (but not necessarily better) leagues abroad, and an influx of Eastern Europeans with exotic names.
One notable pair of transfers is Seongnam's signing of forwards Park Yong-ji and Sergiu Bus. Will they be any good? Who knows. But the prospect of Park and Bus playing up front is the reddit comedian's wet dream.
Considering they came within touching distance of the league 2 seasons in a row and were just crowned champions of Asia, Ulsan are undergoing a massive rebuild. The new coach has minimal club coaching experience, and hasn't managed for over three years, but is apparently getting rid of anyone over the age of 30. Among the departures, captain Shin Jin-ho went to their East Coast Derby rivals Pohang, but the biggest shock is their striker Junior, who just had the most prolific season in K League history, being let go on a free to China.

Matchday 1

The season kicks off on Saturday, with reigning champions Jeonbuk hosting FC Seoul. The fixture is known as "the legendary match" (it's purely a Korean word play, it's not really that legendary), and FC Seoul haven't won this tie since 2017. FC Seoul have however had probably the most promising transfer window of anyone this winter, so putting an end to this record wouldn't be that shocking.
The times are admittedly not that convenient for UK viewers, but after the clocks change and the kick-off times shift to later in the day to avoid the daytime heat, you can still have a long lie-in and catch the whole match.
The K League 1 matchday 1 kick-off times are as follows:

How to follow

There is only one place ^on ^reddit to follow all the K League happenings - KLeague. Over the past year, we've grown by ~~about 350 subscribers~~ over 45% (wow!) and now have image flairs that work across old, new, and mobile reddit. It's your go-to place to ask "stupid" questions and seek terrible advice on who to "root for". If you check the subreddit wiki you'll find plenty of info on how to get into it and how to watch the action live or highlights.
There is no Supercup/Community Shield in Korea, but the first match of the season is arranged to be the previous season's League champions vs the FA Cup winners. This means it's Jeonbuk vs Suwon on Friday. The smart money will be on a Jeonbuk win, but the dollarydoos will be on Suwon. Given that nobody's played a league match since 1st December last year though, everything's a bit unpredictable.

The off-season

The main transfers that I can remember include

Korean NT goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu returning to Japan after playing for Ulsan for just 6 months and taking a throw-in
Korea's other main goalkeeper Cho Hyeon-woo transferring to Ulsan from Daegu
Lee Chung-yong returning to the K League after a long spell in Europe, joining Ulsan
MLS champion with Seattle Sounders Kim Kee-hee joining Ulsan. Ulsan really going for it here
The transfer with the highest publicly-disclosed transfer fee was last season's highest-paid player Ricardo Lopes going to Shanghai SIPG in China for about £5 million
Jeonbuk got their main transfer business done early, signing last year's MVP at Ulsan, Kim Bo-kyung

Ki Sung-yueng almost returned to the K League but talks broke down due to some weird contract clause that FC Seoul still had over him, leading Ki to write this very mature message on his instagram and head off to Spain:

Hurt me with a lie and I can hurt you with the truth...stop playing with me u ain't gonna like when I play back

There were of course many many more transfers in the winter window, but none that would interest most people reading this.
What everyone should be interested in is the K League mascot "class president election", a popular vote for the K League's favourite mascot. It was a two horse race between Daegu's adorable Rica the hedgehog, and the prince of darkness, Suwon Bluewing's Aguileon. Actually I'm not sure which one the prince of darkness is. To my dismay, Aguileon managed to take 1st place, leading Rica by over 1,000 votes. Although he only came 7th, I also want to give special mention to Jeju United's orange.
There were big changes in the lower leagues, as three divisions were merged into two, sorting out the confusing naming schemes, and removing barriers to promotion and relegation throughout the pyramid. The two new divisions are semi-pro, called K3 League and K4 League, sitting below the professional K League 2, and above the amateur K5 league. The long-standing target of having pro/rel with K League 2 "within 5 years" now actually looks possible.

How do I watch it?

Watching live
Watching K League outside of Korea used to be tricky and in Western markets the rights were typically hoovered up by sites like Bet365.
Interest abroad for K League rights are heightened now, so this year there are at least some countries that have been confirmed to broadcast K League, mainly in Asia and Eastern Europe. There are rumours of France, Germany, Italy, Australia, and USA (ESPN?) being interested in the rights, but nothing confirmed yet.
If you don't live in a country that has broadcasting rights, there is still a way to watch online from a proper source. If you can get yourself a Korean IP address, i.e. using a VPN, it's very easy to watch many of the matches in a (mostly?) legal way. If you're using a browser simply head to the Korean web portal Naver (https://sports.naver.com/kfootball/index.nhn), and when there's a match on, it will appear at the top of the webpage, usually with some indication that live video is available. Click on it and start watching. (Note that I haven't checked if it's this straightforward on desktop; I don't own a computer. There's a chance you might be asked to install a browser add-on or something - you can ask in the comments here or on kleague if you need help). An alternative if you're on mobile is to install the "Naver TV" app and find a match in the Live tab. You can also watch back full matches that were shown on Naver if you miss it live.
I won't share less-legal ways to watch here, but if you head over to kleague and look at recent posts you ~~might find something~~ won't find anything so don't even think about it buddy.
One thing to consider about live matches is the time difference - in the winter months, matches kick off around 5am or 7am GMT. In the summer months, kick off is ~10am or 11am GMT. However, for the first couple of weekends the kick-off times are spread throughout the day, so you should be able to catch a game wherever you are.
Watching highlights
If an inconvenient time difference is putting you off, you can still enjoy K League even if you don't watch live. Every single match gets a high quality ~10 minute highlight video produced that is region-free on YouTube. Just imagine you're watching MOTD but without the bad punditry. The official K League channel, should be hosting these videos again this year, but I should include the disclaimer that there's a possibility that the rights to show highlights might have been sold this year, in which case you'd have to find out who has those rights in your country. Highlights are usually uploaded 30 mins – 2 hours after the end of a match, although I did read that AI in their new media centre will be producing highlights within a few minutes of the match ending...

Choosing a team

If any of you want to pick a team to support, if you give some criteria in the comments I can help by suggesting a team, but I'll leave some info here based on what I think could be some common ways to pick a team.
If looking good is your primary concern, here's an imgur album of all home and away K League kits. This album has the kits from both K League 1 & K League 2, so of you're only interested in the top flight you'll have to ignore a few. If looking good is really important to you, there's one particular corner of the internet that has already given their seal of approval to Daegu FC.

Hey guys, Thanks so much for all the contest you post here, it’s crazy how helpful it is. Ok so here’s the thing: I build my own roulette betting algo and it seems to work in theory, so I wanna apply it to live session with very small amounts in order to properly test it. The question is: is there a way to use my algorithm on an online roulette like the one from bet365? I know there’s something called APIs but not sure how the whole process would work. I have not posted here for about a month, mostly due to being so busy. I have just finished up implementing a brand-new data source to the website. This took ~20 days and I actually felt really guilty not pushing any changes during that time. However, this new improvement will allow you to set in-play alerts on almost any league in the world, including friendlies. I have had some joy recently setting alerts on U19 / Youth football for 1H Goal markets.
You can also now set alerts for markets before they open. The system will grab the odds the moment they are available. I'm working building this out further to allow alerts on when Bet365 adds markets and fixtures to their website. Opening odds.

Hi Guys,
For those who are already familiar with our website - cornerprobet - are well aware of the functionalities of our inplay alerts system (which we like to call it Bot system) and I will do a post here explaining on how you can build inplay alerts pretty much as you want. With out website the options are endless and I will briefly explaining some of them. Also make sure to check the first comment as I will show how you can try it over the weekend - aka 3 days trial.
Before we start, please note that this Bot system is only one tool that is available on our website. I will only go through the main options, otherwise this post would be huge.
#1 One big thing with our Bot system is the ability for you to customise on how you want your message to be like - example, you can choose that you want all the stats live or only the information of shots on, last corners/goals or how many dangerous attacks there are. Also, you can set the option to receive the alert with the bet365 link, for those who work there.
#2 If you are into corners, do not forget to set the option "Open Corner Market" as by having it activate, you will only receive alerts from matches which have the corner market opened.
#3 Write a message on your bot so you do not forget why you have received an alert.
#4 Other main option within the first part of building your own bot is to set if you want to receive alerts only when the Favourite team is losing/draw. The awesome on this is that you can set the result you want and the odd of the favourite yourself - so imagine if your favourite are teams between 1.01 and 1.50, you can set it; or if you want to give a broader option, you can also set your favourite team as having odds to win pre-live betwen 1.01 and 2.15

So.. What if you could choose what data you want to use - Pre-live Analysis data (e.g. Over 2.5FT %) or Live Stats? Well..... You can with our system. You can mix both or only use live data.
#1 Pre-Live Analysis Stats: once you click this option, you will be able to choose the Pre-live data based on the analysis of the match. The options available are Goals and Corners.
a) Goals: by opening this sub-tab, you will see 4 different categories: Over Goals - if you want to use the website's prediction for Over 0.5HT Goals %, Over 1.5HT Goals %, Over 1.5FT Goals %, Over 2.5FT Goals %, among other; Average Goals - in here you will have the percentage of goals per interval (Goals 0-15%, Goals 31-HT% etc etc); Interval Goals - similar to the previous one but in here you can use the absolute numbers of Goals Scored, Goals Conceded and/or Total Goals per interval; Other Pre-live Stats: in this last sub-category you can use the website prediction for BTTS, Team to Score a Goal, Team to Win, etc.
b) Corners: similar to the goals section, you will have 4 different categories: Over Corners - if you want to use the website's prediction for Over 1.5HT, Over 2.5HT, Over 3.5HT, Over 8.5FT, Over 9.5FT etc.; Average Corners: you can use the data for Half Time/Full Time Average; Interval Corners - similar to the goals, in here you can use the website's prediction for data in %, Favour or in Average. This is one of the most used tabs to those who create bots for corners as, for instance, you can set the percentage for late corners HT or Full Time and combine this with the data in favour - or, of course, with live data to make your bot more accurate; Races - if you like this, you can also use the website's prediction for Races to make your own bot.
-- Note: a very cool new feature we have added is the fact that you can set how you want this pre-live to be used. This is, you can decide if you want to use this data as Average between Teams, if you want only one Team to pass the value you have set or if you want Both Teams to pass the value you set. Again, options are endless.

#2 Live Stats: the most used section to when you build a bot and you get the reason why - in this section, you can use the data of what is going on during the match. The available data are: goals, corners, yellow cards, red cards, dangerous attacks, attacks, shots-on target, shots-off, total shots, pressure index (EXCLUSIVE from our website), Ball Posession and Goals Chance (equation using corners + shots-on + shots-off).
1) We have updated this Bot system and - again - the options are endless when you use the live data. You get to decide on how you want to use the live data. Giving an example with Dangerous attacks:
a) You can set if you want the value to pass in the match ("Total Home + Away")
b) You can set if you want the value to pass only for the Home Team OR the Away Team.
c) You can set if you want the value to pass for Both Teams - For instance, if you set the value to 40 dangerous attacks "Both Teams", you will only receive alerts from matches when both Home and Away team individually have values higher than 40 dangerous attacks.
d) "Any Team" - if you want to make a bot dedicated to a favourite, this is your option to go. In fact, if you do not care if it is the home or away team, choose this option. As similar to the "Favourite team is losing/draw", by enabling this option you can set the odd you want the team ot pass the value you set.
e) "Difference Home-Away", "Difference Away- Home", "Difference Favourite-Opponent", "Difference Opponent - Favourite": use these options if you want to set differences between teams. For instance, you can set and receive alerts to when the Home Team has 40 dangerous attacks more than the Away Team.
d) A final option within the live data is the fact that you can set an Interval of Time for your value to pass on. For instance, with our system you can set to receive alerts when there are 30 dangerous attacks between the the 46-70 mins. And yes, if you got it right, you can set the interval time AND set the team you want the value to pass on. This is, you can receive alerts only when the Home Team (or any other team) does 30 dangerous attacks between the 46-70 mins. As I said several times, the options are endless.

Aaand that it's! No sorry, that is "not it" as there are more and more options to discover :D As I said and as you have by now understand, with our system you can create Bots as you want. The options are endless. It is up to your imagination to decide what Bot you want to make. And so, it does not matter what market you work on, you can create bots to help with your inplay analysis.

Intro
I got into Sports betting months after I turned 18. I was introduced to it by my idol twitch streamer who got SPONSORED by Betway(juiced af btw). I mean it seemed cool, it wasn't some degenerate CSGO roulette lottery bs (amirite). This was about skills and predictions, literally the stock market but for sports. I got to into it, started making models, reading articles on e-sports teams, watching YOUTUBE videos and seeing other peoples predictions. This was a fun side hobby and made watching the games that much more fun. $5 here, $10 there, $20 on the LOCK OF THE YEAR etc.
Mindset/ Problem gambing
21 and finally into the workforce. I can't lie, I hated my job (and life really) I accepted very early on that I was never going to be rich. I was born poor and most likely die poor too. On top of that I never had luck with the ladies and with my workplace being 90% male; mix that with a limited social life I was going to die single or have to pay for it. I'm not sure how I got to that point but I genuinely believe this up until a couple of months ago(23). I didn't think life was worth it unless u had money and being middle class wasn't what I was talking about. I'm talking about those who weren't tied down to any real obligations. Those who could do and or go wherever they wanted. Those who were their own boss, those who had a life I could only dream about (the streamers, content creators, youtubers of the world).
I knew very early no matter how much I saved I'd always be poor. Seeing kids driving Lambos, traveling to exotic places; working and living life on their terms, being able to pick up and do whatever they want. This was never going to be my reality. I was destined to the rat race, "another cog in the wheel" like the majority. I wasn't gifted, I had no real talents, I'm not amazingly intelligent, at best I was extremely average (and below average socially). Sure, I could save up and have money but honestly, by then I'd be in my late 30s, early 40s, fuck maybe 50s! and life would've already passed me by. By then I'd be old with a lot of responsibilities or more likely single and miserable. I just didn't see life being worth it as a poomiddle-class man. Life only really seemed worth living if you were in the top 10%. Sports betting seemed like my "only way out". It was the only clear path I could see in making a lot of money in the next couple of years and if I was good enough I could do it, a lot of people have.
The reality is I'd constantly break my "system" because at times I'd get desperate. I'd get home from work sometimes with the mindset. "FUCK I hate my life, I don't want to go into work tomorrow. Please just give me a way out. I'm wasting my life grinding this shit while people are traveling and vlogging their amazing lives. Why God! I want that so bad." I'd want to chase my losses or chase potential winnings. I wanted to make that money now, not some 7% cuck shit in a year. I'd straight up YOLO cause it felt good or felt there's no chance this team would lose. I literally did everything, every betting method possible I've tried it and have seen so many "lock of the century, there's no chance X loses" lose.
Totals
On Pinnacle I'm officially down CAD$37,384.39 over 22 months($22,000 over last 12 months). An estimated ~$10,000 combined on other sportsbooks prior(Betway, Bet365 and "scam bookmaker 1xbet"). So if I had to guess I'm down $45,000-$50,000 over 5 year: 18YO - 23. I did peak at a $40K bankroll from $500 eventually when I had an amazing month ... only to lose it all + more the following month :)
Reflection
Holy fuck... $50,000 I could've traveled the world, saved it for my future, fuck it buy a 2-3 year old nice car, had a downpayment for a small house, etc. Instead, I don't really have anything to show for the last 5 years of my life financially. Obviously, I did learn a lot about myself during this time such as I'm extremely content and satisfied without possessions or material things; I don't need the latest and greatest toys. I mean I literally went 5 years without buying myself anything and I don't feel sad about it. Relationships and experiences are really what matters and give me meaning and is the reason I don't see a reason to bet any more.
Final Thoughts
So, if you're reading me and judging me! go for it! I deserve to be judged and shamed, I was an addict. If there's anyone who can relate or anyone who's struggling with a gambling addiction. I'm not going to tell you to stop, just to reevaluate the reasons for why you're playing. If it's to escape your reality go and seek different perspectives on life. One where materialism and possessions aren't at the key of your happiness.
Rereading this, It's actually insane and I can't believe I let myself do that. Holy fuck... It could've been worse but I'm just happy I can move onto the next chapter of my life. Cheers !

So I'm sure we've all heard of people being restricted for WINNING a lot of money on Bet365, with restrictions ranging from only being allowed to place 0.01 stakes, to another form of restrictions, documentations on income.
But I'm sure that most of you haven't heard about how B365 treats its upper epsilon of customers, I happen to be one of them.
The moment I hit 18, 3 years ago, I couldn't wait to start gambling on B365, the hour upon my birthday after midnight, I signed up straight away, and started betting, before this, I've had a lot of experience gambling, but my gambling was mainly in bitcoins since I was underage.
Anyway, I was lucky enough to come from a fortunate family, and as such, I had access to a lot of money at a young age, money that while other kids would spend on lets say iPhones, I would spend on betting.
2 years of betting on B365 passed, and no problems, every couple of months they would ring me, suspend my account for about a day, and then unsuspend it to make sure I'm "comfortable" with my gambling, to which everytime I passed with flying colours.
However, this year, I had increased my stakes, so to put it into context, I started betting 100 euroes per bet, that went up to 1000 euroes over the course of 2 years.
I rarely had over 8k in my balance (i.e if I would deposit 3k, the highest I ever got was to 8k) and I rarely cashed out my profits, other then the occasional takeaway or food shopping bill that I used my card for (that I was given by them)
Anyway, all in all, I was the PERFECT customer for B365, I lost over 26000 euroes over the course of 3 years, and in total I had gambling activities of over 1 million (bets placed NOT DEPOSIT)
A few months ago, after a period of increased activity (normally I would deposit 4000 euroes every 4 months and that would either last me one week or one month depending on how retarded I was) then in between I would deposit maybe 50/100
I bet over 2 months 10000, and I had lost it.
Anyway, they contacted me asking for proof of income, and after much research online, I saw that there was hardly any mentions of people who WERE LOSING A LOT OF MONEY having to provide proof of income.
Being a bit annoyed, at the fact that rather then accepting free money B365 are accusing me of money laundering or something else, I did indeed submit my bank statements then afterwards, they have been asking for more and more documents.
Now these bank statements that I have provided show that my overall accounts have more then 40000 euroes in them, and I regularly get income from work and other family activity, yet they keep asking for more and more information/history under the pretence of "safe and responsible gambling"
It doesn't take an idiot to work out that there are 2 things at play here:
1) They are looking for responsible gambling, to which, I have proved it with my bank statements showing that even with all these looses, I am comfortably living my life
2) They are looking for money laundering - to which I would think I'm the worst money launder in the history of money laundering if my losses are SO HUGE.
So right now, I'm having to bet on other sites, and frankly I'm very annoyed at how they have acted, because I don't arb, I don't match bet, and I have recommended B365 to everyone I know yet I find myself under scrutiny for enjoying a hobby within my financial limits.
Just a word of warning for those who do bet/stake a lot on B365, that even if you are a good customer for them, a profitable one, they might come after you.

Hey guys, just a rant really...im on mobile so format wont be great. I dont know if this has happened to any of you, but it happens to me quite a lot and this season especially.
I usually do 4-6 game accas and we all know how it works. The games kick off and youre waiting for the goals to go in.
99 percent of the time the cash out is low numbers...but it is working...but when all your teams are winning and your waiting for one goal to be scored on a section in that acca...then cash out is always unavailable for me.
I live chatted with a member of the bet365 team and he looked into the bet then up came a automated response saying "oh sometimes cash out isnt available at all times, if your bet doesnt align up with cash out available values"
Well if 5 of my 6 selections are winning on 85 minutes and all im waiting for is one goal to be scored then surely that would align with a cash out available option...its not like 3 teams were losing or whatever.
I just think its all a scam if im honest...whether its got anything to do with algorithms and if you fall in to that bracket of potential winners then bet365 will conveniently make cash out option unavailable.
Im not going to be using betting apps anymore...I will just do it in shop and that way I cant complain that cash out isnt available and that I have lost a bit of money.

With Cheltenham Festival coming up, I thought I’d put together a comprehensive guide and overview for what is THE most profitable time for matched bettors.

So whether you have been doing matched betting for a while or you’re completely new to the concept, with a bit of luck this post should be interesting/useful.

Just a quick disclaimer. Throughout this guide I will be referencing Heads&Heads, however, this is not a promotional piece. The advice below can be used and applied to whichever service you happen to be with. There will be an offer at the bottom of this guide. Ignore it if you are not interested, I won’t be offended – the important thing is we all smash Cheltenham while it is still so profitable.

Firstly, why exactly is this such a profitable time for Matched Bettors? Well, simply put, the Cheltenham Festival is one of the world’s biggest horse racing events. As such, all the bookmakers will be falling over themselves to ensure punters place their bets with them rather than their competitors.

Why Cheltenham is a Big Deal
Cheltenham Festival is one of the busiest times of the year for bookmakers with projections of around £500 million to be placed in bets over the 4 days of racing. There are a total of 28 races to bet on giving an average of around £17,850,000 bet on each race. Punters at the Festival and around the country betting online jump on early ante-post markets and last minute bets. 2. Be Organised
This can be best summed up as - make sure that your money is where it needs to be before the end of the weekend prior to Cheltenham (7th & 8th March).
Additionally, try to have completed the majority of the welcome offers for the major bookmakers. The key bookmaker to have ready is Bet365 – their Horse racing offer during the festival is massively profitable.
Set up a separate PayPal for faster withdrawals.
If you've not got a massive exchange balance, then on this rare occasion we recommend boosting its size using your own funds. Of course, because you’re matched betting the only risk is the tiny qualifying loss per offer, which you should be used to by now. The last thing you want is to be missing out on offers and not making the most of the available profit.
Try to get some bets on the night before if the odds matches are strong. Know which offers are available on which races and know what offers you want to go for on each race.

3. Go Easy Early
Do easy low stake reloads (Free bet on a loss, 2nd place, 2nd to SP favourite, etc) the night before if possible or early morning. The Exchanges will have a lot of liquidity, even hours before the races – meaning that you will not need to worry about unmatched bets when laying.

4. Odds Boosts & VIP
Look out for the boosts and make a note to check the Heads&Heads forums facebook group hourly for any updates on potential boosts. These will come thick and fast, but if you are quick, you can create some pretty incredible profit margins.
Additionally, make sure you check your email over the 4 days. There will be plenty of bookmakers handing out ‘tailored’ offers to their VIP members. VIP has a loose definition in the eyes of the bookmaker, so you’re likely to get a lot more of these than you think and they are often very lucrative.

5. Enjoy It
Sounds cliché but don’t let it stress you out. Making money is great but taking the week off work and then running yourself into the ground all week isn't worth it. Matched betting is a side earner – something to enjoy and be done in your spare time to earn you some extra cash. It should not feel like a job.

6. A Small Exchange Balance Is No Excuse!
Is it worth taking part with a really small bank like £500'ish?
Even if you just did the offers that guaranteed a profit, you’d still make around £250 and this would not require a massive exchange balance. So yes, it is absolutely still worth it.
What If I Am Gubbed by Most Bookmakers?
This is a very common question and not an unreasonable one either. After all it is incredibly frustrating to have your account with a bookie gubbed. This is even worse when a huge event like Cheltenham is coming up.
Honestly, it will restrict your ability to make money, but it is still possible to make a profit from Cheltenham.
Extra place strategies are worth looking at. This is made possible because Extra place betting doesn’t rely on you using free offers. So, if the bookie has only restricted your use of free offers then this is your best option. Furthermore, if you are restricted from getting reload offers by a bookmaker, you should still be able to take advantage of odds boosts. So, keep an eye out for these on the Heads&Heads Forum.
Anything I Should Be Looking Out For?
One issue to be aware of is that of the smaller bookmakers offering very generous odds. If an offer looks too good to be true then you should be careful. This was particularly true a couple of years ago, when a lot of smaller bookies offered really good odds and then refused to pay out people’s winnings.
This problem is unlikely to occur again (happened in 2017), with bookmakers under the spotlight by legislators like never before. In addition, if you have an account with the bookmaker prior to Cheltenham starting, then you’ll be slightly more trusted by the bookie and thus they will honour your pay-out.
Should You Book Time Off Work?
Are you planning to take time off work during Cheltenham? This could be a great idea. As well as watching the races on TV, you can stay up to date with all of the offers during the day. However, we want to stress that taking time off work is by no means 'required' to make money during this week.
That said, speed will be key for so many of the opportunities during the festival. You may only have a small amount of time to place your bet or lose the opportunity. Being at home will, of course, make this a lot easier.
However, not everyone can take all 4 days off. So which days should you prioritise?
Simple answer really. The first day – Tuesday (10th March).

Our Predictions
Now, predictions may seem a bit useless as we are matched betting. However, knowing who the experts favour to win can help you pick a horse. So, for example, if an offer was triggered if your horse lost, you'd want to be sure you were avoiding those favoured to do well. Epatante
Epatante has caught the eye of punters during the early betting for the Champion Hurdle and, at the time of writing, rates as one of the strongest race favourites of the week. We likely have not seen the best of this horse.

Benie Des Dieux
Benie Des Dieux is quoted for a few Cheltenham races this spring but traders at major bookmakers are confident she will run in the Mares Hurdle. If she does, bookies expect her to win the race with a bit to spare.

Envoi Allen
Envoi Allen is priced as the standout horse in the Ballymore Novices Hurdle and traders believe he will take all the beating. A loss here will rate as one of the biggest upsets of the week. He won each of his first seven starts.

Defi Du Seuil
Defi Du Seuil can be found quoted in the Champion Chase antepost betting and the early money has been promising. He has won 13 of his first 18 and those stats aren’t to be taken lightly, certainly not by backers.

Tiger Roll
Tiger Roll is a fans favourite but have we already seen the best of Tiger Roll? As it stands Tiger Roll is the antepost favourite to win the Cross Country Chase and is a short price at that.

So, Fulham. After a cracking win against Swansea where we were the dominant side and probably should've killed it off sooner if not for nerves, we're back in action after a 2 week break. Nathan Jones will have been working on what worked and what didn't work with the players available to him during the international break, and will hope to see another strong performance against Fulham on home turf.
Fulham arrive in Staffordshire just 3 points from the top spot, albeit currently sitting just outside the play-off places. It's clear indication that they're in top form, with manager Scott Parker turning them into an attacking powerhouse. Top scorer Mitrovic up top provides the firepower with supporting players Cavaleiro and Championship veteran Anthony Knockaert providing the chances. This is a Fulham side full of confidence, and one that Nathan Jones will have to figure out tactically to overcome.
Another day, another game. But will Stoke City be able to pull themselves off of the bottom of the table with another strong performance, or was the Swansea win just a flash in the pan?

I had so much fun going putting together a short list yesterday morning, that I spent a couple of hours in the evening going through the longer list of 75 donors, cross referencing with entries in Companies House. The general concept is to highlight businesses and their owners that people may want to avoid using or support because of their funding of Brexit.

I wouldn't have been able to accomplish this so quickly if powerbase.info hadn't already done the hard work in identifying the donors.

Remain backer analysis is defo in the works. I've gone through all the backers on infobase, but this one needs a bit of careful thought. With Cheltenham Festival coming up, I thought I’d put together a comprehensive guide and overview for what is THE most profitable time for matched bettors.

So whether you have been doing matched betting for a while or you’re completely new to the concept, with a bit of luck this post should be interesting/useful.

Just a quick disclaimer. Throughout this guide I will be referencing Heads&Heads, however, this is not a promotional piece. The advice below can be used and applied to whichever service you happen to be with. There will be an offer at the bottom of this guide. Ignore it if you are not interested, I won’t be offended – the important thing is we all smash Cheltenham while it is still so profitable.

Firstly, why exactly is this such a profitable time for Matched Bettors? Well, simply put, the Cheltenham Festival is one of the world’s biggest horse racing events. As such, all the bookmakers will be falling over themselves to ensure punters place their bets with them rather than their competitors.

Why Cheltenham is a Big Deal
Cheltenham Festival is one of the busiest times of the year for bookmakers with projections of around £500 million to be placed in bets over the 4 days of racing. There are a total of 28 races to bet on giving an average of around £17,850,000 bet on each race. Punters at the Festival and around the country betting online jump on early ante-post markets and last minute bets. The rise of mobile betting in recently years has given bookmakers a new way to connect with customers and now it’s easier than ever to place a bet wherever you are.
With so much money involved in betting on races at Cheltenham, bookies fight for customers in the run-up and during the festival. One way bookies entice customers to bet with them over a competitor is to run special promotions for the races. Punters looking for the best value in their bets should take advantage of these enhanced offers while they are around as they can result in increased returns and minimised losses. 6 Steps For Tackling Cheltenham
With all the offers and potential profit flying around it can become a little overwhelming. The best place to start is by simply practicing the basics - and that is our first of six steps for getting ready to tackle Cheltenham.

1. Practice Makes Perfect
When it comes to matched betting you can never get enough practice! You may think you understand every reload strategy there is. However, when the offers come as quickly as they do during Cheltenham, practice can be the difference between getting into breaking the £1,000 profit mark and missing out.
So, make sure that you have familiarised yourself with and practiced the popular horse racing offers before Cheltenham. These include 2nd to SP Fav, 2nd place refund, 4/1 winner, fallers insurance. Simply doing a Saturday’s worth of horse racing reload offers will tick a lot of these boxes.

2. Be Organised
This can be best summed up as - make sure that your money is where it needs to be before the end of the weekend prior to Cheltenham (7th & 8th March).
Additionally, try to have completed the majority of the welcome offers for the major bookmakers. The key bookmaker to have ready is Bet365 – their Horse racing offer during the festival is massively profitable.
Set up a separate PayPal for faster withdrawals.
If you've not got a massive exchange balance, then on this rare occasion we recommend boosting its size using your own funds. Of course, because you’re matched betting the only risk is the tiny qualifying loss per offer, which you should be used to by now. The last thing you want is to be missing out on offers and not making the most of the available profit.
Try to get some bets on the night before if the odds matches are strong. Know which offers are available on which races and know what offers you want to go for on each race.

3. Go Easy Early
Do easy low stake reloads (Free bet on a loss, 2nd place, 2nd to SP favourite, etc) the night before if possible or early morning. The Exchanges will have a lot of liquidity, even hours before the races – meaning that you will not need to worry about unmatched bets when laying.

4. Odds Boosts & VIP
Look out for the boosts and make a note to check the Heads&Heads forums facebook group hourly for any updates on potential boosts. These will come thick and fast, but if you are quick, you can create some pretty incredible profit margins.
Additionally, make sure you check your email over the 4 days. There will be plenty of bookmakers handing out ‘tailored’ offers to their VIP members. VIP has a loose definition in the eyes of the bookmaker, so you’re likely to get a lot more of these than you think and they are often very lucrative.

5. Enjoy It
Sounds cliché but don’t let it stress you out. Making money is great but taking the week off work and then running yourself into the ground all week isn't worth it. Matched betting is a side earner – something to enjoy and be done in your spare time to earn you some extra cash. It should not feel like a job.

6. A Small Exchange Balance Is No Excuse!
Is it worth taking part with a really small bank like £500'ish?
Even if you just did the offers that guaranteed a profit, you’d still make around £250 and this would not require a massive exchange balance. So yes, it is absolutely still worth it.

What If I Am Gubbed by Most Bookmakers?
This is a very common question and not an unreasonable one either. After all it is incredibly frustrating to have your account with a bookie gubbed. This is even worse when a huge event like Cheltenham is coming up.
Honestly, it will restrict your ability to make money, but it is still possible to make a profit from Cheltenham.
Extra place strategies are worth looking at (on Heads&Heads Training). This is made possible because Extra place betting doesn’t rely on you using free offers. So, if the bookie has only restricted your use of free offers then this is your best option. Furthermore, if you are restricted from getting reload offers by a bookmaker, you should still be able to take advantage of odds boosts. So, keep an eye out for these on the Heads&Heads Forum.

Anything I Should Be Looking Out For?
One issue to be aware of is that of the smaller bookmakers offering very generous odds. If an offer looks too good to be true then you should be careful. This was particularly true a couple of years ago, when a lot of smaller bookies offered really good odds and then refused to pay out people’s winnings.
This problem is unlikely to occur again (happened in 2017), with bookmakers under the spotlight by legislators like never before. In addition, if you have an account with the bookmaker prior to Cheltenham starting, then you’ll be slightly more trusted by the bookie and thus they will honour your pay-out.

Should You Book Time Off Work?
Are you planning to take time off work during Cheltenham? This could be a great idea. As well as watching the races on TV, you can stay up to date with all of the offers during the day. However, we want to stress that taking time off work is by no means 'required' to make money during this week.
That said, speed will be key for so many of the opportunities during the festival. You may only have a small amount of time to place your bet or lose the opportunity. Being at home will, of course, make this a lot easier.
However, not everyone can take all 4 days off. So which days should you prioritise?
Simple answer really. The first day – Tuesday (10th March).
The reason for this is that the first day sees more offers available than any other single day. The bookies tend to start off strong and tail off towards the end.

Now, predictions may seem a bit useless as we are matched betting. However, knowing who the experts favour to win can help you pick a horse. So, for example, if an offer was triggered if your horse lost, you'd want to be sure you were avoiding those favoured to do well. So, use the below to help inform some of your decisions when completing Cheltenham reload offers.

Epatante
Epatante has caught the eye of punters during the early betting for the Champion Hurdle and, at the time of writing, rates as one of the strongest race favourites of the week. We likely have not seen the best of this horse.

Benie Des Dieux
Benie Des Dieux is quoted for a few Cheltenham races this spring but traders at major bookmakers are confident she will run in the Mares Hurdle. If she does, bookies expect her to win the race with a bit to spare.

Envoi Allen
Envoi Allen is priced as the standout horse in the Ballymore Novices Hurdle and traders believe he will take all the beating. A loss here will rate as one of the biggest upsets of the week. He won each of his first seven starts.

Defi Du Seuil
Defi Du Seuil can be found quoted in the Champion Chase antepost betting and the early money has been promising. He has won 13 of his first 18 and those stats aren’t to be taken lightly, certainly not by backers.

Tiger Roll
Tiger Roll is a fans favourite but have we already seen the best of Tiger Roll? As it stands Tiger Roll is the antepost favourite to win the Cross Country Chase and is a short price at that.

At my most recent Problem Gambling Support Group meeting via Skype (the same one posted on here weekly) it was my turn to do a therapy session. This is my journey from starting gambling until now. I thought it would be worth sharing here as someone may get something from it. It is a bit of a long read.
My name is Mark and i’m a compulsive gambler. My last bet was April 2nd 2019. The day of April 2nd was a massive turning point in my life, it was the day I finally admitted to my long term partner, who is the mother of my two children, and to my parents that I was a compulsive gambler and needed help. The weekend prior was when I finally said to myself I’ve had enough, I had been betting for 14 years and it had beaten me so badly that I was a mess mentally and financially. Although no one knew that because I was an expert at hiding it.
I started gambling like almost anyone in the UK or Ireland, The Grand National. The one day of the year where it seems like every man, woman and child has a bet on. The biggest horse race in the world. That and those glorious holidays spent in Portrush playing the 2p machines (penny fall machines). I don’t for one second blame those experiences for my gambling problem, they are just my first memories of gambling. One really vivid memory I have of gambling was when I was begging my dad for the latest Official Playstation Magazine, the one with the demo disc, and he was just sitting down to watch England play against someone and said to me “if Paul Scholes scores the first goal I will get you the magazine.” Now, I know for a fact win or lose my Dad would have gotten me the magazine, he just said that so I would give him peace to watch the match. Well I remember watching the game with him hoping with all my might Paul Scholes would score 1st and he did. That adrenaline rush, even at a young age (I was 13 years old at most I would say) was unbelievable. Now, again, I am not blaming that for my gambling addiction at all, it is just one of my first vivid memories but that mentality of gambling to get something I want for free would be a regular pattern throughout my gambling career.
Once I turned 18 I opened my first betting account with Blue Sq and that started my online sports gambling journey. Friday nights were spent betting on Wolverhampton all weather horse racing and the Dutch and French 2nd Divisions. All harmless fun, controlled gambling, small stakes. I was still working part time at this stage, left school that summer and gambling was not in the way. Once I got my full time job though that all changed.
The first time I could put my finger on when my gambling changed was the first day of the 2008/2009 football season. I’d been working full time for about 3 years and my gambling was still under control, well, at least I thought it was. My stakes were still low and I was doing football bets at the weekend for a bit of fun. I gambled, but it wasn’t causing me any issues. That Friday I walked into a Paddy Power and decided instead of placing a load of stupid football bets for £1 or £2 I’d pick three teams for the season and do a £20 treble each week. Sheffield United, Leicester City and Leeds United were the picks. Of course, the first weekend it landed (the only time it landed all season I think) and my betting changed from that moment. I genuinely can’t remember the odds but I must have lifted over £100 from that £20 stake and after that staking £1 or £2 just wasn’t appealing. What was the point in that when I could stake £20 and win more. From that moment my gambling started to get out of control over time. Then came the loans, the credit cards and the payday loans.
At some point around this time I had opened a spread betting account due to a sign up offer. Now I did not have the first clue about spread betting but the offer was they gave you a free £100 or something to sign up so I did. I was still living at home at the time and we had one computer which everyone used. Well my Dad stumbled upon this website and was able to access the account (he’s not technically minded so I imagine I left it logged in) and he seen the betting history and he went mental at me. Now, I did explain that it was just bonus funds and I hadn’t actually deposited any of my own money but still the lecture came. It felt like a lecture at the time to me but he was just warning me of the dangers of gambling. Giving me examples of people he knew who had a problem and how easy it is for a gambling problem to begin. So I can never turn around and say that I wasn’t aware of the dangers, I was, my ego was just too big to listen. I paid lip service to the lecture and said I wouldn’t do it again and my Dad took me at my word and trusted me.
So, I knew early on I had a problem. I self excluded from places over the years but never really wanted to quit. I was getting in debt but was able to continue with my lifestyle as I was living at home. I remember one day going to a cheque cashing place where I could write a cheque for £100, dated on my next payday, and they’d give me £90 there and then. I did two cheques for going out that weekend (and a couple of bets on the Aintree Festival) walked straight to the bookies and had the £180 on Denman to win the Aintree Bowl at even money. Denman was a monster of a horse, a machine. He could not lose...then he suffered the first fall of his career. Back I went to the cheque cashing place for another £90 so I could still go out that weekend.
I wasn’t learning from my betting mistakes either as I was just borrowing more money to cover the cracks. I got a few debt consolidating loans over the early years to try and get a handle on my debt but it just gave me an excuse to take out more credit. The payday loans which I used to either gamble or cover my expenses for going out because I used all my money gambling. I would borrow money off my Dad and give him the puppy dog eyes when I paid it back and normally he’d only take half of what I owed him. He thought he was doing the right thing and he wanted me to have money to be able to go out with friends, I was just manipulating the situation.
I moved out and into my friends house for a year and the gambling continued, although I had less money to gamble with. My credit rating was taking a battering but I was young and didn’t really care. Then I met my current girlfriend in February 2010 and we moved in together that September. The gambling continued and was getting worse. I made the smart move to get a second job to supplement my gambling…...at a greyhound track. I’d be earning about £20 a night but gambling £60 or £80. Insanity. We had our first child in April 2012 and not long after she found out I’d be gambling some of the money we’d saved. It wasn’t a lot of money, but she was pissed (rightfully so). I managed to talk my way out of it and that was when I became really good at hiding things. She took control of the rent money and any money for our son so that was never in danger thankfully. We had our daughter in 2016 but the gambling still continued.
It may seem like I have glossed over an important period of time there but the truth is I can’t really remember any of the details. The only details I am able to recall with any great clarity are coming up but I just want to touch on a couple of things from this period. This was a time when I had the biggest wins of my gambling career, two separate occasions. One was an insane run of luck where I couldn’t lose all weekend and ended up with enough money for me, my partner and our Son to have our first and only foreign holiday. Another time I had a £5 free bet and landed a treble at Sandown, all Gary Moore horses and won £3.5k. That money went towards decorating the nursery for my soon to be born Daughter, my partner got money, my Mum and Dad and her Mum and Dad. I bought a PS4 and gambled the rest from memory. The two reasons these moments stick in my head isn’t just the amounts, it’s the only time I walked away in profit, at least for the sessions in question and the reason is that I told my partner I had won the money. That was the only way I knew I wouldn’t gamble it all away because she would ask questions if the money I promised didn’t materialise.
Another part of this time period I want to explore is how I was emotionally. I was 25 when we had our Son and he wasn’t planned. It was a shock to say the least and my life, as I knew it anyways, changed. No longer was I able to do what I wanted socially, I had a Son to provide for. I was working two jobs, money was tight, was I still gambling? Of course I was but slowly I started to strip everything else out of my life. We had our daughter when I was 29 and to be honest here, as much as it sadeness me I thought this way I resented having kids, especially at that age. I felt trapped at times, people I knew were able to do what they want but yet I had all this responsibility. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my kids during this time as well and they meant the world to me, but I do feel that I got into the thought process that I was trapped because of them and my only escape was into the world of online gambling.
I would go through phases where I’d stop altogether for months on end, a year at one point which I imagine was around the time my partner found out about me using the savings for gambling, but I’d always go back to it thinking I was in control but I never was. When gambling I’d deposit £10, lose it, deposit another £10, lose it, rinse and repeat until all my money was gone. If I won it just meant I could gamble longer. It was never about the money. I thought it was, but really the money was the fuel that could keep me gambling longer. Most months I was skint a few days after payday and couldn’t gamble until the next payday. It may not sound like a lot of money but it was a relentless cycle month after month after month.
At the end of 2016 I got an overdraft of £2k and gambled it all on soccer all around the world. Woke up and started gambling in Asia, moved across the globe into the Middle East, Africa, Europe and then fell asleep betting on South American football. It was out of control. Betting on Egyptian football on Xmas Day a particular lowlight. This was what my gambling looked like when I had money. All these bets were in-play as that’s how I gambled, watching a little graphic on Bet365 and thinking I could predict what was going to happen. I also gambled heavily on tennis as well, picking a player to win a set 6-0 was one of my favourites. Generally I would start with £10 as I mentioned and if the bet won I would keep “investing” all the money until it got to a certain amount, normally a couple of hundred quid. Once I got to that point I would raise my stakes significantly because I would tell myself it wasn’t my money. It wasn’t if I didn’t count all the loses it took to get to this point over the previous few days. I would then gamble that until it’s gone cursing myself for not taking the money when I had the chance. Placing the last of my money praying to a god I don’t believe in that if he could just make this bet land then I wouldn’t bet again. Once the money was done I would just sit there, looking at my bank balance, the lack of money, the direct debits due to come out in a few days, trying to figure out how I would survive the next 3-4 weeks until payday. Then I would dust myself off and start working on some budgets. What direct debits I could bounce, who I could ask to borrow money from or maybe what I could sell to fund another round of gambling to try and win my money back.
Coming into 2018 I was in a “good place” with gambling, or so I thought. I was Matched Betting which was a way of making money via bookmakers offers. It worked well for a few months but it all went to shit in the Summer of 2018. Matched Betting introduced me to the casino side of things and I lost £3.5k on roulette. I’ll not go into the ins and outs of how I had that sort of money, lets just say I didn’t and I found a way to deposit via direct debit on PayPal and of course those all bounced. Luckily Paddy Power rewarded me by making me a VIP customer after that, every cloud and all that. So I was chasing big style and getting free £50 bonuses each week from them but I could never get enough money to stop, because no amount was ever going to be enough. Their offers of Money Back if Horse X wins are normally £10 max refund, I was getting £100 max refund. Eventually I was running out of ways to get money and when I started to bet less with Paddy Power they removed my VIP status. I did win £1000 on an NFL bet and lost the lot on roulette the next week. Another lowlight.
The win on the NFL followed by the lose on roulette sticks in my mind because visually it summed up how miserable I was. I had promised my partner back at the start of the year that we would get the living room redecorated and I would pay with it from my Matched Betting and she was happy with that. Of course I explained it was risk free and nothing could go wrong and it wasn’t even gambling. Anyways, come November we are due to have our living room redecorated and of course I do not have the money for it so I have to go to my Mum and Dad. I give them some sob story about how when I was Matched Betting I made a mistake, layed off the wrong horse and lost my money so could then lend me it and don’t tell my partner. It was a complete lie and to be honest at the time I didn’t think they had bought it but they lent me the money. Turns out when I told them about my gambling problem back in April they had smelt bull shit but my Granda (on my Dad’s side) was ill in the hospital and he was stressed about that so he just let it slide. So the redecoration was on and it was going to take a couple of days. One Monday night I had a bet on the NFL and it landed, £10 at 100/1. Happy days, I can give my Mum and Dad back their money, it’s nearly Xmas, this is amazing luck. So on Tuesday night I sat in my half decorated living room and thought if I could just win a little bit more then things would be even better so loaded up the roulette. I lost it all sitting in the living room and during it I could literally see what the money would be paying for but it didn’t stop me, nothing would stop me.
2019 I could feel myself struggling. My life was consumed with gambling or working out how to get money to gamble and then how I was going to pay people back what I owed them. I was in a bad place, I was a bad person, lying, angry but still no one knew the truth. January had always been a tough month as I run several NFL Fantasy Football leagues for money and I am in charge of the money. Of course, that was always gambled away by me and January was the month people expected pay outs because the season was over. Usually I would have won enough money in my leagues to cover it or convince people to pay for next year with their winnings that I could cover it. This year I could not and I had the added pressure of owing people money. A lot of these people were friends of mine I knew personally, others were people I had gotten to know over a few years and only talked online. Either way I had stolen their money and gambled it away. I managed to use my Granda’s death in January as an excuse for why I had not paid people yet, I was in a bad way with the funeral etc, all the excuses, the truth is I was just trying to buy more time.
Then came the weekend prior to April 2nd. I had just been paid and deposited some money into my Bet365 account and managed to get my balance up to £910 on Friday 29th March. I should say by this stage I was fully gambling on tennis. Not match winner, that took too long, generally set winner or next game winner as that was quicker. Now this £910 would have cleared some of my urgent debts to allow me to continue on gambling. All I had to do was withdraw, and I was going to…...once I got it up to a nice round £1000. As you can guess I lost the lot. £300-£400 on Benoit Paire was one of the worst hits but I was gambling like a mad man. That was how I bet when I had winnings, the stakes got out of control. By the time I was leaving work at 6pm on the Friday the whole £910 was gone. I was betting on ATP, Challenger, ITF, any tennis that was on I was betting on it. Back in the day I remember betting on a tennis match where they had one ball. Still a story that brings a smile to my face if I’m honest. A smile that consists of a mixture of shame and cringe. That Friday night I deposited whatever I had left in and managed to win back a good chunk of the money, but it still wasn’t enough. It still wasn’t what I had before. So the whole weekend went like that, up and down, up and down. I went to a family dinner and sat betting on my phone the whole night. That’s how my life has been the last number of years, i’m present at gatherings, or nights out but my mind is deep in my phone gambling away not giving a shit about anyone.
Eventually the money ran out that weekend. I was a mess. I could have actually made it work financially and gotten through the month but mentally I was gone. I could tell my brain had put me into a nosedive and the only way this was all ending was in disaster. Maybe not this month, or this year but I was being flown towards rock bottom.
I sat down on the Monday and wrote out everything that I owed, who I owed it to, a budget going forward. It was grim enough reading, £18k in the hole. The money wasn’t the issue, it was how it was making me feel, the time I’ve been wasting. The fact that I finally couldn’t take anymore, that I was ready to wave the white flag and say gambling has won, it defeated me. I found out when and where the nearest GA Meeting was to me and wrote that down too. So I found a set of balls and on the Tuesday I told my girlfriend. My attitude was that life can’t be any worse for me than it currently is. I was a mess, I cried, I honestly expected her to tell me to get out and I wouldn’t have blamed her, but she was amazing. She was angry obviously, but she was so supportive. Then I called my parents round and told them. They were disappointed, confused but also really supportive. Then the next day I told my closest friends who were again all really supportive. I owe them some money too and they’ve been great about setting up a payment plan to pay that back. I can imagine some people saying that I didn’t hit rock bottom in comparison to others, I felt that way myself to be honest. I felt like I had gotten off lightly but looking back the cycle I was in was soul destroying and although I didn’t cause the devastation others have caused I knew I needed to reach out for help as I couldn’t do it on my own.
I registered for GAMStop and self excluded online for 5 years which has taken the avenue of online gambling away from me. A vital step if online is your vice. I also handed over control of my finances to my partner which again removed another temptation. I’ve since learned in recovery that gamblers need 3 things, time, opportunity and money, take away one of those and you won’t be able to gamble. I took away two with these simple steps.
I then went to my first GA Meeting on Wednesday 3rd April. The time doesn’t suit me for that, Monday at 9pm is my meeting but I felt I needed to get to one ASAP. I don’t know what I expected GA to be, some sort of church run cult filled with a bunch of old men desperate for a bet but it’s one of the most amazing groups I’ve ever found. It’s a dumping ground for all my shit and it’s a place where I can listen to other people’s stories. Without sounding sexist, it’s something a lot of men could do with outside of addiction, a place to talk about life and how they are feeling. I take a 50 mile round trip every Monday to get there. When I was gambling if I had to travel 50 miles to get internet to gamble you can guarantee I’d have travelled every day. When I leave a meeting I am buzzing, for all the right reasons. I’m a lifer when it comes to GA now and I am fine with that.
I am also a member of the Problem Gambling Support Group and we run three meetings a week via Skype. This group has been so influential to my recovery and I have met so many good people I now consider friends through it. The topic meeting style is completely different to what happens at my own GA so it fits into my recovery perfectly and gives me a different perspective.
I have a sponsor, who has had a massive impact on my recovery. He has helped me work the Steps and is always there if I need him. At times it’s hard to tell who is sponsoring who but that sort of dynamic works well for me as I see him as a friend first and sponsosponsee second.
I have also found a passion for writing about my journey and post my stuff on my blog, on GamCare and on the Reddit Problem Gambling Sub. I have been told my stuff is very good and people seem to get a lot from it. As I explained at a recent meeting I am still learning how to deal with praise, it makes me feel awkward. I’m not sure if it’s from years of not wanting to be the focus of people's attention because of the fear they might ask questions and my addiction would be exposed. Whatever the reason I am working on being able to accept praise and enjoy it and as I was told at the last meeting...a simple thank you is usually enough.
I’ve been clean for over 9 months now, and I have not struggled with urges to gamble. My life is amazing, it always was but I was too wrapped up in my addiction to notice. I literally had everything I could ever want. I have an amazing partner and two amazing children along with my parents who are absolutely fantastic. I have my health, a job and my friends are another support network I couldn’t do without now. They stood by me when I admitted my problem and they gave me the belief that I could do this.
Recovery is now my focus along with my family. The debt can be managed, stopping gambling is one day at a time, but the main focus of my recovery will be fixing my character defects, helping others, being open and honest to people and not being a selfish asshole. I would like to think those that know me now can at least drop the selfish part when describing me.
I have put plenty of work into my recovery and I feel like I am getting the benefits out of it. I have a routine when it comes to meetings and they don’t impact on my family life. Is every day amazing? No it’s not. Some days are rather boring and some days are tough, but that’s life. Some days you have to make chicken salad out of chicken shit. I have accepted what I am, I am a compulsive gambler and I need to be the one who changes. No one else around me needs to change, I am the common denominator. I have noticed a change in myself and those closest to me. They all seem happier, more content, happy to have this me in their life and not the old me. I wasn’t a nice partner, father, son or friend when I was in active addiction. I don’t want to be the person I was before I started gambling either because I am pretty convinced he was an asshole as well. I am using this recovery to become the man I want to be, the man I can look in the mirror and be proud to be.
As I said, I have accepted that I am a compulsive gambler and I cannot have a single bet because it will lead me back to active addiction. I have no issues with the gambling industry or people who gamble, I just know that I am unable to gamble as it ends in disaster. I feel there should be more discussion around problem gambling and the industry should be putting more money into helping problem gamblers and to help identify problem gamblers. It’s a fine line though, as I know if a bookie told me they felt I had a problem and wouldn’t accept a bet I’d have been angry and just went somewhere else. You need to be ready for recovery to fully embrace it. I never was until April 2nd. For the people in recovery we need to be ready to help those that get to the stage where they are ready for recovery. We are the ones who these people will come to rely on as we’ve been through it, you can tell when talking to someone who hasn’t had a gambling addiction they just don’t understand. Over the coming years I think there will be a significant rise in people looking for help with problem gambling. I don’t feel like my story is close to the worst out there and I have read and heard some people who have the opinion that you need to cause devastation before recovery will work. That’s bollocks and that sort of attitude is why GA is filled with old men and young people are reluctant to stay. I have come to believe it doesn’t matter how much you have lost, how many relationships you have destroyed or what age you are, all you need is a desire to stop gambling and that is the qualification for entering recovery.
For now though, for me, my next bet won’t be about the money I lose, I’ll lose my partner and my children as well and that’s not a bet that I am not willing to make.
